William (Bill) Louis Rehbeck, 94, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and dedicated church volunteer, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2025 surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Newark, Ohio, Bill graduated from Newark High School and proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Marie, on March 26, 1954. Moving to Columbus he devoted his life to the care and protection of his family. He retired from Westinghouse after 38 years and went on to work at the Schottenstein as an usher for 20 years before retiring for good. He was a dedicated Buckeye fan, serving 65 years as an usher for Ohio State football games with a memorial brick at the Shoe honoring his service. He was an avid collector of Buckeye memorabilia, coins, stamps, magazines and heisey glassware. His father and grandfather were vital employees of the Heisey Glassware Company in Newark, Ohio before the company closed in 1957.
Bill was active until just weeks before he passed and was very proud of being able to mow his yard, and take great care of his gardens, especially the roses. He loved to sit on the screened in back porch and watch the birds at his never empty bird feeders, yelling and chasing off the determined squirrels. He was an active member of St Paul Lutheran church for over 60 years and sang in the choir. With his devoted wife, they were dedicated volunteers, helping multiple charities by collecting and distributing donations.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William Sherman (Pete) Rehbeck, Evelyn Andrews Rehbeck and his brother Gary Edward Rehbeck. His is survived by his brother Tim Rehbeck (Ann), loving wife Marie, daughters Kristi Chapin and Cheryl Smith (Royce) sons Matthew (Becky) and John (Michael), grandchildren Shaun, Christopher, Jason, Bryan, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Luke, Ben and Ava, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
