Thomas Edward Rahr Jr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4th, 2026, surrounded by family, at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1937, in Wheeling West Virginia, the son of Thomas (Eddie) and Kathryn Louise (Nikolaus) Rahr.

He graduated from Wheeling High School where he was known by his peers as the Lord High Chancellor of the Knights of Euclid. There he met his high school sweetheart, Marna Dale (Habig) Rahr who later became his lifelong loving wife of 64 years. Their favorite thing to do was going to the movie theater together.

After high school, Thomas spent one year at West Virginia University before taking a job in Newark, Ohio. After marrying Marna, they moved to Newark and started a family. He resided much of his life in Ohio. Tom and Marna lived in Newark, Ravenswood, Woodsfield and Columbus before finally settling in Hilliard, OH.

Thomas began his working life as a young teenager repairing typewriters. His mechanical skill led him to a long career in technical fields, working mostly in management, beginning at Industrial Nucleonics before moving to Kaiser Aluminum. In the 80’s and 90’s he found a career with Ranco before moving to work with the State of Ohio within DYS & MIS.

Tom was known for his sense of humor and was a lover of laughs. He was an avid reader of comics and a tinkerer of technical things. Thomas was a loyal fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Thomas loved his family deeply and would often connect with his children and grandchildren. He was lovingly involved in family events, extracurriculars, & gatherings together.

Thomas was a devoted and faithful Christian. He held a deep love for the scriptures and the Gospel of Christ. He was a faithful member of Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hilliard, Ohio, for over 50 years.

Thomas was preceded in death by his son Brian William Rahr, his son Bradley Edward Rahr, his wife Marna Dale (Habig) Rahr, sister Barbara (Rahr) Becker and just hours before him his brother-in-law, Eddie Becker. Remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter Susan (Rahr) Tabbert and her husband, William of Marion, OH and their two children, Jordan (Melissa) of Columbus, OH and Delaney (Jack) of Marion, OH; daughter-in-law Glenna Ann (Lewis) Rahr of Apollo Beach, FL and her husband James (Jay) Huling; granddaughters, Melissa Kathleen Vega (Chris Allen) of Austin, Tx and her children Colton, Colette, and Chloe Vega and Zane Allen of Austin, TX; Anna Elizabeth Rahr of New York, NY and her wife Adrianna Rahr; Grandsons James David Rahr, his wife Ai Rahr and their children Kei Rahr, Haru Rahr, and Mio Rahr of Hartford, Ct; Bradley Edward Rahr jr., his wife Ashley Briana (Hernandez) Rahr, and their son Thomas Edward Rahr III, of Orlando, Fl; Colin of Deland, FL, Adam and his wife, Sara, their son, Carter and daughter Kylie of Omaha, NE, Rachel of Dublin, OH, Matthew and his wife Janelle of Delaware, OH.

A memorial service will be held at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3500 Main St, Hilliard, OH 43026, on Tuesday, February 17th at 11 am with visiting hours from 10-11. Interment to follow at Wesley Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church.
