Thomas Henry Osmundson, Jr. March 23, 1945 - November 23, 2025

Tom passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 23rd at the home of his son, Thomas Henry (Hank) Osmundson, III in Columbus, Ohio, under the watchcare of Vitas Hospice.

Tom was born in Norfolk and lived in Chesapeake, Petersburg & Hopewell, Virginia, He attended Bolling Junior High & Petersburg High School & graduated from Fishburn Military School in Waynesboro, Virginia. Tom retired from Verizon (C&P, Bell Atlantic) in 1998 and was able to spend a number of years with his dad. When Ellen retired from her employment at MCV/VCU, they relocated to Ohio, to be near their son, Jon and daughter-in-law, Jennifer and their six children.

Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Ellen Young Osmundson, also of Columbus; his son, Hank, of Columbus; his son Jon and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; his grandchildren, Quinn, Jacob & Alexis Osmundson, Phoebe and Gabe Lewis, Valen, Kendall, and Isaac Osmundson, and his great granddaughters, Izzie and Hazel Osmundson, all of Hilliard, Ohio. Tom is also survived by his two sisters, Sylvia Massey & Margaret Norwood, as well as nieces, great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins; as well as his brothers- and sister-in-law, Mark Young and David and Susan Young.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry Osmundson, Sr & Margaret Dewberry Osmundson of Prince George, Virginia, as well as his brothers-in-law, Walter Massey and Danny Norwood and his sisters-in-law, Debbie Young Marshall and Sabrina Young.

A celebration of his life will be held on March 23, his 81st birthday, at 6:30pm at Hilliard United Methodist Church, 5445, Scioto Darby Rd., Hilliard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tom’s memory to the churches where his sons serve as Associate Pastors: Hilliard UMC (hilliardumc.org/giving ) and St. John’s UCC Columbus (stjohnschurchcolumbus.org/donate)
