Steven Thompson

Steven Thompson, age 77, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024. A lifelong Buckeye, Steve was born in Ohio & was a graduate of Hilliard High School class of 1964.   After high school, he became a civilian in the motor pool for the Air Force at Rickenbacker Air National Guard base & Wright Patterson Air Force base.  Steve was a staple in youth sports as a member of the Optimist Club in Hilliard & also an influential parent/coach to many.  He went on to be an active referee @ both the High School & Collegiate levels for soccer, basketball, baseball & softball.  Once he became a grandfather, Steve moved to Arizona to be closer to family.  In his later years, Steve was diagnosed with COPD which made an impact on his activity & eventually lead toward retirement.  In his last year+ he once again joined family in Iowa, where he passed away peacefully with family members @ his side. Steve was preceded In Death by his father, Strother Thompson & his mother, Kathryn (Kay) Thompson & his younger brother James (Jim) Thompson. Steve is survived by his son, Matthew (Matt) Thompson, & his daughter-in-law, Jenny (Cocroft) Thompson & his only grandchild, Trinity Thompson.
