Saundra "Sandy" Lee Pennell, nee Miller, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, June 17th 2022 at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded in love by her family, after an unexpected but courageous battle with cancer.
Sandy was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 21st, 1957 to parents Thomas Anthony Miller and Mildred Ann Miller, nee Huston. She graduated from Franklin Heights High School. Later, she would work at Woolco Department Store where she would meet her husband, Robert "Bob" Pennell. They married on July 1st, 1978, and shared 43 years together. Their son, Robert "Bobby" Pennell Jr. was born in 1988. They would move to Plain City, Ohio for a time before eventually settling down in West Jefferson, Ohio. Sandy worked at Nationwide Insurance for 32 years before retiring and working part time at Wal-Mart for several more years.
She is predeceased by her parents and her sister Michelle Balo, nee Miller. She is survived by her husband Bob, her son Bobby and her brother Michael "Mike" Miller.
Sandy was known for being a friend to everyone she met. She was a dedicated mother, wife and hard worker. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed working in the garden at her home. Sandy loved her family and friends dearly, and was always available to give love and support to anyone who needed it. She had the uncanny ability to make any place she was at feel like home, just because she was there. She is, and will always be, dearly missed by her family.
A celebration of life is being planned in honor of her on January 21st, 2023 at Pinnacle Community Center (1710 Harbour Mist Dr. Grove City, OH 43123). Family and friends are welcome to join. Any additional proceeds will be donated to cancer research.
