Roberta Joanne Wasmus

Roberta “Bert” Joanne Wasmus, 72, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 17, 1953, in Carroll, Ohio.

Bert loved her family deeply and believed that family is everything. She enjoyed traveling and made those memories even more special by creating custom T-shirts to celebrate the trips she shared with loved ones. A devoted Christian, her faith was an important part of her life.

Bert was known for her loud, joyous personality and her big sense of humor. She loved to make people laugh and was always ready with a funny face or playful moment for her grandchildren. She loved her family with all of her heart and went out of her way to show that love, often through cooking meals or buying thoughtful gifts for the people she cared about most.

Bert also faced a long journey with cancer, which she fought with strength, courage, and bravery which made her an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Angel Hillyard (Ben) and Bethany Wasmus (Daniel); her grandchildren, Andrew Hillyard and Aaron Hillyard; and her siblings Herb Thorne, Mike Thorne, Leo Suplee, and Bonnie Sutton.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kirk Wasmus, her parents, Murele Thorne and Wesley Gene Thorne, and her siblings Gene “Butch” Thorne and Richard “Dick” Thorne.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love her.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Tidd Funeral Home in Hilliard, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to breast cancer research in her memory.

Her love, her faith, and her belief that family is everything will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
