Richard Eugene Reedy, age 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 09, 2006 at Avalon Newport Beach in California, formerly a resident of Dublin and Upper Arlington. He was born on August 25, 1917 in Columbus, OH, the son of Carolyn Egan Reedy and Hugh Lloyd Reedy, Sr. Preceded in death by parents, his loving wife of 63 years Rita Lucille Compton Reedy, grandson Matthew Reedy, brothers Hugh Lloyd and Edward Reedy. Richard (Dick) spent approximately 50 years of his career in the Transportation and Distribution Industry. He started in the trucking business in 1936, was traffic manager at Curtiss-Wright during the war, owned Comet Airlines, Reedy Motor Freight, Traffic Manager of the Lustron Corp., V.P. Leukart Machine Co., Dept. Natural Resources Program and Planning and numerous other companies. In 1986 he became a commercial Real Estate Broker. Richard was a member and past master of Triangle Lodge #748 F&AM, past president of Tri-Village Shrine Club, Aladdin Senior Shriners Club, Ambassadors Shrine Club and Downtown Hi-Twelve Luncheon Club. Dick was a member of Aladdin Temple Shrine, Community Chapter #227, Columbus Council #8, Knight Templar Mt. Vernon Commandery #1, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Honorary 33rd since 1978. Dick loved singing with the Aladdin Chanters and Scottish Rite Choir. Dick was also a member of many other organizations to numerous to mention. Richard is survived by three sons and their families, Richard (Margaret) Reedy, Rodger Dennis (Catherine) Reedy, Michael (Anne Marie) Reedy, grandchildren Michelle (Carl), Christine, Kelly, Karra, Jason (Shelly), Joshua, Elena (Mike) Peter (Sarah), Kristen and Brian, great grandchildren Casey, Kayla, Krista, Katie, Bobbie, Simon and Rachel, nephew Hugh Lloyd (Judy) Reedy, nieces Cheri (Jeff) Brandt and Diane Powell. Richard was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Richard was a very active man and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. Friends may call 5-7 pm Tuesday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 7:30pm. A Masonic service will be 7 pm Tuesday. Graveside service and interment 11 am Wednesday at Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi, OH. Those who wish may make a contribution in his name to the 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center for Children, 290 Cramer Creek Ct., Dublin, OH 43017 in his memory.
