Richard Parker

September 15, 1950 — May 21, 2025

Richard "Dick" Walter Parker passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 21, 2025. Born on September 15, 1950 to the late Walter and Pauline Parker, he was the 5th of 12 children. He was a God fearing, hardworking man his whole life. Whether it was milking cows, baling hay, or working the fields, he showed what hard work meant. Working hard is something he passed on to his 3 children. Working on the farm and with the cows led to his prized name of Papa Moo by his grandchildren. Receiving many awards for dairy cattle, he passed down his love of animals to his children and grandchildren. He loved watching and helping all of his children and grandchildren show at the local county fairs as well as the Ohio State Fair and occasionally the National Shows in Louisville. His happy places were spending time with his grandchildren, feeding the many animals at the homestead, and of course, tending to his pumpkins. He graduated in 1968 from Hilliard High School. He retired in 2021 from the US Post Office after 27 years. Shortly after, he relocated to Dayton to be nearer to his beloved daughter, Marcie. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by former wife and mother to his children, Katherine Parker Ratliff, brothers Jim Parker and Fred Parker, brothers in law Bob Kain and Tom Downerd, sisters in law Peggy Parker and Linda Parker Rivelli, and nephew David Alan Parker. He is survived by children and grandchildren Adam (Melody) Michael (Reed), Matthew (MarySarah), Emma (Luke), Jolyn, Cera, Eva, John, Nate, and Anna. Marcie (Ricky) Jackson (Olivia) and Kenzie. Rick (Mary) Preston and Waylon. Siblings Pat Kain, David (Susie) Parker, Nancy (Steve) Meek, Becky Downerd, Vickie (Mark) Schlosser, Kay (Brian) McElwain, Roger (Lois) Parker, Joyce (Steve) Durban, and Karen (Ty) Coleman, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. The family will be receiving visitors from 5-7pm on Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Tidd Funeral Home in Hilliard with services at 11:00 am Wednesday May 28, 2025, followed by a graveside service at Alton Cemetery.
