Norma DeWitt

Norma DeWitt (Urtz) departed this life on Thursday, November 2, 2006 of Dublin and went home to be with the Lord, whom she had served faithfully throughout her life. Norma was born on February 4, 1932 in West Leyden, NY to Mr. And Mrs. Howard R. Urtz (Elizabeth King) of West Leyden, where Norma grew up. She graduated from Cornell University, where she majored in Home Economics. In 1956 she married Paul F. DeWitt in Toledo, OH, and from this union two children were born: Mark and Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, and a brother H. Urtz, Jr. Norma is survived by daughter Mary (Brent) Gilmore, son Mark (Sue Schleifer), granddaughters Christine and Nicole Gilmore, brother George (Eleanor) and sister in law Shirley Urtz. Norma was a former member of First Lutheran Church of Troy, OH, the Altrusa, International of Troy, OH, and the Dayton Philharmonic Chorus. Since 1999 she has been a faithful member of the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church of Columbus, OH and has participated in activities of ministry to the extent that her health has allowed. A funeral service will be held 7 pm Wednesday, November 8, 2006 with visitation one hour prior to service at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church (Mill Run Campus), 3500 Mill Run Dr., Hilliard, with Pastor John Stolzenbach officiating. A reception will follow the service. Visitation for family and friends will be held 7-9 pm Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard. A graveside service will be held 1 pm Thursday at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, OH. Memorials may be given to Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, the Central Ohio Parkinson’s Society, or to a charity of your choice.
