Melvin Ray Mullet

Melvin Ray Mullet, 86, of Plain City, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 13th, ,2026 surrounded by his large loving family.

Melvin lived a long and deeply blessed life. Yet more than the years he was given or the many things he accomplished, he will be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus and the deep love he poured into his family. His legacy is one of devotion, kindness, and a life lived with purpose. His relationship with Christ was the center of his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue through the generations of his family. One of his most familiar reminders was, “Don’t forget to say your prayers today” — a simple statement that reflected the foundation of his walk with God and the way he encouraged others to draw near to Him.

Melvin met his wife, Linnie (Johnson), in Sarasota, Florida. On December 31, 1960, they began a life together that lasted more than 65 years. From this union came six children: Bertha, deceased November 30, 1999 (Donnie, deceased); Dulgar; Cindy Schreck of Plain City; Pam (Gary) Phipps of Marysville; Dee (Mark) Wilson‑Bushong of Plain City; Stoney Mullet, deceased July 14, 2003; and Karen (David) Roose of Mt. Victory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Atlee and Bertha (Gingerich) Mullet, and by three of his four siblings: Perry (Carol Sue) Mullet, William Mullet, and Viola Headings. His surviving sibling, Susie Miller, age 91, remains a cherished part of the family. Melvin is also survived by his brothers-in-law Vernon Headings and Harold (Marla) Johnson, and his sisters-in-law Cindy Mullet, Debbie Johnson, Jan Johnson, and Judy Johnson, and a niece, Mariann, held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Robert “Red” Johnson and Chuck Johnson, and sister‑in‑law Shirley Johnson.

Melvin leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 26 great‑grandchildren, and 3 great‑great‑grandchildren who will carry his memory and legacy forward.

Melvin was a hard worker who took pride in the business he built, Master Crafters. He was known for his dedication, honesty and generosity and never knew a stranger. His kindness, friendliness, and willingness to talk with anyone reflected the love of Christ he carried so naturally. He had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in making others smile, often handing out candy or gum to the children at church. His warm spirit and genuine care for people made him unforgettable. Whether you were an old friend or someone he met only moments before, he made you feel seen, valued, and welcome.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we do not grieve without hope. Because Dad placed his faith in Jesus Christ, we have the comfort of knowing that this is not goodbye forever. He has finished his earthly journey and gone home to be with his Lord, reunited with Bertha, Stoney, his beloved parents, and his siblings. As a family, we are deeply grateful for the many years God gave us with Dad — for his life, his love, his faith, his humor, and the family he helped build. His earthly life may have ended, but the impact of his presence will continue through all that were blessed to know him.

Dad, we love you. We will miss you more than words can say. Until we see you again in Heaven. Thank you for the honorable legacy you have left behind and for the example of faith, love, and family you gave us.

Family will receive friends from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at United Bethel Mennonite Church, 11342 Lafayette Plain City Rd., Plain City, OH 43064. Family will also receive friends from 11am-1pm on Friday, September 18, 2026 at United Bethel Mennonite Church; where funeral service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Steve Hicks officiating. Interment Big Darby Cemetery, Plain City, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions toward the ongoing publication of the free devotional, Golden Nuggets, written by Melvin’s granddaughter, Susan Phipps, and shared freely as a reflection of his faith.
