Martha Helen Joyce

Martha Helen Joyce, of Hilliard, lovingly known as “Amie,” passed peacefully in her home on October 28th at age 92. She was born on October 7, 1930, in Czechoslovakia. Being a survivor of WWII gave her immense inner strength that guided her throughout her life. She retired as the Director of Nursing at the Heinzerling Memorial Foundation in 1997. Martha enjoyed spending time with family & friends, including playing cards at the senior center and vacationing with family on Hilton Head Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Mayerhofer; step father, Louis Hrbek; husband, James B. Joyce; son, David F. Joyce; and grandchildren, David and Molly Whiting.

She will be deeply missed by her children, James P. (Rene) Joyce, Bryan M. (Patty) Joyce, Lisa Whiting, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Joyce; as well as her grandchildren, Emily Joyce, Abigail Whiting, Erin Joyce, and Stephanie Joyce; and special friend, Rory Mendat.

The family will receive friends at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 5-7pm, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, in Galloway, with the family hosting friends in a reception at Heritage Golf Club at 2:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Martha may be made to the Heinzerling Memorial Foundation or Habitat for Humanity.
