Margaret Hacker

d. December 15, 2021

With the curious mixture of sadness and joy which those whose hearts are fixed firmly to Jesus know, we announce that Margaret (Peg) Beam Hacker peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on December 15, 2021.

Peg was born on February 6, 1946 to Ernest and Lerline Beam of Xenia, Ohio. The second of four children, she had tremendous memories of growing up on the family farm. She was a member of 4H and was actually accused of cheating on a dress making activity because her dress was made too well. Anyone who knew Peg, knew she could do miracles with a needle and thread. After graduating from Xenia High School, she attended THE Ohio State University. Here she earned her degree in elementary education and she sang in the women’s glee club. Most importantly, this was the season of her life where she met the love of her life, Rodney Hacker, at church. They married in 1971. She taught for a few years and then they started their family. It was during this season at home that Peg started her business, “Seams To Me”.

In addition to this, Peg was involved in various ministries at her local church, Northwest Bible Church”. She played the organ for many years and sang in the choir. Peg had a lovely soprano voice with which she loved to worship the Lord. She taught 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School for several years and loved each one of her “kids”. In recent years, she was teaching her “Kids’ kids.”  Here, she wrote her own Sunday School curriculum that revealed Jesus presence throughout the entire Bible. For many years, she and Rod hosted Northwest’s Singles Ministry and Peg took great delight in matching a few couples together.  She mentored younger moms in the church’s Mom to Moms program. Missions was near and dear to Peg’s heart; whether it was welcoming a missionary into her home or going to serve in Guatemala.

Peg never knew a stranger. She had an uncanny ability to connect with anyone and make them feel special. She challenged so many in their walk with Jesus and encouraged them to then build into others walks too.

Margaret Beam Hacker is survived by her dearly devoted husband of 50 years, Rodney Hacker, their sons, Joel and Daniel (Derika) Hacker, their daughter, Elizabeth (Tyler) Spata, and six grandchildren; Nathaniel, Andrew, Katherine, Kylin, Anna, and Mary, her siblings John (Linda) Beam, Mary (Thomas) Driscoll, and Joseph (Mona) Beam. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lerline Beam, Daughter-in-law, Bonnie, and grandchild, Caleb Hacker.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their love, prayer, and support over the last few months. Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Peg’s life at Northwest Bible Church, 6639 Scioto Darby Road, Hilliard, OH 43026, where calling hours will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 9:30 and a service to follow at 11.
