Lois Y. Swincher

Lois Yvonne (Freel) Swincher, age 88, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Heritage Senior Living Center in Plain City.

Born in December 1936 in Lima, Ohio, Lois was the beloved daughter of Walter and Lois Freel, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her sister Sharon Swords and brother David Freel.

Lois was first married in 1954 to Charles Strohl of Hilliard, Ohio, with whom she raised a loving family. In 1991, she married Joe Swincher, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Sheryll (Rick) Hammett of Boston, Rick (Janet) Strohl of Plain City, and Michele (Robert) Barregarye of Plain City. Lois was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jason (Val) Strohl, Alessandra Hammett, Daniel Barregarye, and Jonathan (Andrew) Kish, and a joyful great-grandmother to Jaelyn and Ellie. She was also a cherished aunt to Charlotte (Terry) Hefner, Scott (Darlene) Swords, and Troy Freel.

Lois graduated from Shawnee High School in Lima and later relocated to central Ohio. In retirement, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Port Charlotte, Florida, where she spent many happy years before returning to Dublin where she could spend more time with her family.

Fiercely loyal to her family and friends, Lois found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing Euchre, reading, solving jigsaw puzzles, and cooking for loved ones. A passionate Buckeye fan, she especially enjoyed watching The Ohio State marching band and attending Skull Sessions before home games.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, with final interment at Lima Memorial Cemetery.
