Linda McKinney

d. December 19, 2021

Linda Mckinney (Van Voorhis), 74, passed away December 19, 2021, after a long battle of COPD. She was born October 18th, 1947, in Canton, OH.  Linda later moved to Columbus in 1984 due to a job transfer with American Electric Power (AEP) where she worked for over 30 years as a secretary in the engineering department.  Linda was 1965 graduate of Lehman High School. Linda’s most satisfying accomplishment was her family. She loved unconditionally and was blessed to share her life with her beloved husband of 35 years, Roy McKinney; her two loving Children, Jeffrey (Holly Michaud) Gurney of Seminole, Fl, and Erica (Greg Wright) Gurney of New Concord, OH; adored grandchildren, Brandon (Jessica) Gurney, Amanda Taylor, Emily Taylor, Tyler Lemery, Morgan Gurney, Lyndsay Erdy, Garrett Gurney, Conner Gurney, Eliot Thompson; 4 adored great-grandchildren Quinn Bauschard, Griffin Taylor, Berkley Gurney, June Gurney. Linda also had three step-children that she loved, Rochelle (Randy) Roberts of New Albany, OH, Rhonda Calliari of Hilliard, OH and R. Scott (Jamie) McKinney of Galloway, OH; and step-grandchildren, Nicholas McKinney, Jeremy McKinney, Kelsi Calliari, and Kaden (Skylar) Calliari; and two step-great granddaughters, A'liah McKinney, and Sophia Lee Calliari.  Linda is survived by her dear sister, Pam (Dana) Ray of Canton, OH, and a niece and two great-nieces. And her loved pets, Charley (dog) and Soffie (cat). Linda was preceded in death by her loving parents, Wayne and Joyce (Fickes) Van Voorhis. Anyone who knew Linda knew that her family and friends were her most precious gift.  Linda was so funny, passionate, full of love and unfiltered.  She never met a stranger. Linda was a true ‘Mother Bear’ and if someone was giving someone, she loved grief – she would insert herself and “set them straight” if you wanted her to or not (also affectionately known as “pulling a grandma Linda”).  She was one of a kind – a legend.  Linda leaves behind a lifetime of love and friendships, and while she is sorely missed on earth, we know that she is finally at peace, safe in the arms of Jesus. Her family will receive friends Friday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) from 10am – 1pm at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 with a service officiated by her Hospice Chaplain, Cheryl Ann immediately following.  Burial will be on Tuesday, December 28th 11 am at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Canton, OH.
