Linda Butcher

April 30, 1943 — July 18, 2025

Linda Kah Butcher, 82 of Hilliard, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday July 18, 2025 following a brave, prolonged struggle with dementia.

Linda was born April 30, 1943, in Sidney, OH, a daughter of George and Irene (Smith) Kah. A 1961 graduate of Jackson Center High School, she continued her education at Bowling Green State University, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. In 1988, she earned a Master’s Degree from Youngstown State University in School and Community Counseling. It was at Bowling Green where she met her husband of 59 years, John L. Butcher. Through their life together they lived in Boardman, Youngstown, Hilliard, and Powell, Ohio. They also lived for several interesting years in Guelph, Ontario.

Linda dedicated her professional life to education, beginning as a Home Economics teacher and later channeling her compassion into counseling and addiction prevention efforts. She worked for many years with ON TASC Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing drug and alcohol education to schools. Linda loved participating in the ON TASC training programs and witnessing the growth and transformation that occurred in participants. Linda was kind and selfless, always opening her heart and home to those in need.

Upon retiring, Linda and John relocated to Hilliard, OH to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She spent many hours tending her perennial flower beds and vegetable gardens. Linda enjoyed exploring the Columbus area, cooking with her grandchildren, volunteering and traveling the world.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Linda is survived by a sister; Kathy Prichard of Dunedin, FL, two children; daughter Christine Butcher of Upper Arlington, and son Michael (Wendy) Butcher of Galena; 2 granddaughters Grace and Audrey Butcher. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law Jim (Karen) Butcher of Northampton, Massachusetts, a grandniece Amanda (Butcher) Duncan of Bothell, WA; as well as many cousins, friends and extended family.

A joint Celebration of Life for Linda and her husband, John will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Linda’s honor to:
