Leonia Watkins

Leonia May Watkins, age 92, longtime Hilliard resident, passed away February 21, 2017. Graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Rochester, PA, Class of 1942. She then moved to Canton, Ohio where she became a Bookmobile Librarian and met her late husband Clyde R. Watkins; with whom they raised their family. Leonia “Tunney” retired with 20 years of service from T.G.N.Y/Scott’s Department store as a fabric department Manager. She was a championship bowler and enjoyed playing euchre. Preceded in death by parents George and Ina Sturm, loving husband Clyde R. 1992 who was a WWII Veteran and retired from the E.P.A., Division of Air Pollution Control. Survived by children Eric D. Watkins, Ronald Lee (Linda) Watkins and Sue Ellen Watkins, grandchildren David Lee (Amber) Watkins and Heather Nicole (Cogi) Hagerty, great grandchildren Abigail and Madelynn Luna Watkins, Cairo and Savanna Hagerty, special friend and coworker Diane Lewis and longtime neighbor Dorothy Kensey. Family will receive friends 11 am – 1 pm Monday, February 27, 2017 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KA 66675. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Laurels of Hilliard Transitional Care Unit, especially staff members, Jessica, Alec, and Christina for their loving care of our mother.
