June Alice Bibler, known lovingly as “JuneBug” and “Junie B,” passed away on June 22, 2026, at The Inn at Library Way after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 74 years old, born on February 15, 1952, in Findlay, Ohio.
June was a woman of remarkable energy, intellect, and heart. A 1970 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, she distinguished herself early through vocal and instrumental music and multiple sports. She carried that same drive into higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University in 1974, where she was a member of AOII and played softball, basketball, and volleyball. She went on to earn a master’s degree from Ohio State University in 1979 as an athletic trainer, graduated cum laude from Columbus State in 1994 with an associate degree in nursing, and completed a legal nurse consulting certification from Capital University Law School in 2002.
June’s career was as dynamic and varied as she was. She served as a nursing assistant, orthopedic technician, athletic trainer, microsurgery technician, and research assistant for transplantation at OSU Medical Center. As a registered nurse, she worked at Riverside Medical Center, OSU Medical Center, and an orthopedic and sports medicine practice. She retired after 15 years of dedicated service as a legal nurse consultant from Roetzel, a large defense law firm.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, June was someone who made the world brighter simply by being in it. Her smile was infectious, and she was always caring, kind, and ready to lend a hand at any moment. She had a deep love for animals, and they were always drawn to her, as if sensing the gentleness in her spirit. She carried a genuine appreciation for the natural world that shaped so much of how she spent her time.
An avid adventurer, June loved traveling and visited 34 states and 8 countries, with her favorites being the national parks, Scotland, New Zealand, and Europe. She was a dedicated cyclist, hiker, kayaker, and loved camping and sailing. Her energy for life outdoors never seemed to fade.
June gave generously to her community as well. She served as an usher for the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts, volunteered with Hilliard Adopt-a-House, Mid-Ohio Habitat for Humanity, and the American Red Cross, and was part of the King Avenue ERT. She loved to sing and was a cherished member of the King Avenue United Methodist Church chancel choir.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, woven into everything she did, from her service to others to the joy she found in music and worship. She now rests in the arms of the God she loved and served so faithfully.
June is survived by her wife, Pam Higgins; her mother, Donna Bibler; her brother, Ron Bibler; her sister, Jill Budde (Ron); her brother, Dave Bibler (Becky); and her sister, Carrie Weiman (Jerry). She was preceded in death by her father, Charles.
The family extends sincere thanks to the staff and amazing caregivers at The Inn at Library Way, Capital City Hospice Care, TeamJUNE, Dr. Daniel Lee and staff at OPG Cognitive Neurology, and the Scioto Ridge UMC Respite Ministry for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at King Avenue United Methodist Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hilliard Adopt-a-House (www.hilliardhabitat.org), CAPA (capa.com), or the King Avenue UMC Huggins Fund (kingave.org).
