It is with great sorrow that we announce the July 17 passing of Judy Mosier, age 80, of a stroke.
Judy was born in Waterloo, Iowa on September 20, 1944, the eldest child of Glenys Jean Jackson McIntee and John McIntee. She grew up water-skiing, playing golf, ice skating in the park, and cultivating a wonderful sense of humor. One St. Patrick’s Day during high school, outraged that she couldn’t celebrate her Irish heritage by wearing even a green pin, she found a loophole in the strict Catholic school dress code—and showed up to homeroom with her hair dyed green. The scandalized nuns sent her home and quickly updated the student handbook.
After studying English for two years at Clarke College, Judy married, had two children, and worked jobs from hospital administrator to uncredited promotions director at a local t.v. station (officially a “secretary” she handled all station marketing but, being a woman, had no official title). Later, as a divorced mother in the early 1970s, she forged a successful career in residential real estate.
In 1979 Judy married Craig H. Mosier II and moved from Waterloo to Columbus, Ohio. She studied journalism at Ohio State, had another child, then went back to her real-estate calling. As a Realtor with HER/Howard Hanna, she capped off a more than 40-year career by receiving the Columbus Realtors’ Lifetime Achievement Award. Clients appreciated her so much that many bought multiple properties with her over several decades.
In her later years Gramma Judy spent her time traveling, reading, and planning fun family get-togethers. One Christmas she scheduled a family talent show and, to the absolute delight of everyone (especially her grandchildren!), she performed an original rap song as "Gma J-Dawg." If you ever saw a car with that license plate tooling around Columbus, Judy was the driver.
Judy was the epitome of strength and resilience both emotionally and physically, having endured multiple knee, shoulder, back, and hip surgeries/replacements. She had compassion for all people. Her empathetic nature made her an exceptional role model for her family and friends. Throughout her life she gave time and energy to numerous causes, including Junior League, Reading Buddies (grade school literacy), and The Philanthropic Educational Organization, or P.E.O. She was a longtime member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Hilliard.
Judy is survived by Craig, her cherished husband of 46 years; beloved children Wendy Parris (Ted), Tom B. Langlas (Tiffany), and Craig H. Mosier III (Jen); dear sister Barbara Wheeler; and adored grandchildren Will Parris, Delaney Parris, J.T. Langlas, Renata Langlas, Ellie Mosier, and Cal Mosier.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 26 from 1-4 p.m. at Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Kobacker House, St. Brendan's Church, or Covenant House.
