Joe Moore passed away peacefully at Kobacker House, surrounded by his loving family. He left this world the way he lived - content and happiest with those he loved most by his side.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Moore Sr. and Florine (Asher) Moore, several cousins, and a sister. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Linda (Winnie) Moore, and their four children: John (Jennifer) Moore, Julia (Scott) Duff, Jaime (Shawn) Spencer, and James (Hannah) Moore.
He was a proud grandfather to Jon (Sara) Moore, Brianna Moore, Jason Speck, Lucian Speck, Mia (Mikey Leitz) Moore, Kai Moore, and Brysen Davis. Joe also had the joy of meeting his great-granddaughter, Ensley Rosalie Leitz, who quickly became his sunshine. He was delighted to know the family will grow again soon, as Jon and Sarah are expecting their first child, Eliza Louise Moore, in the new year.
Joe is also survived by his beloved aunt, Mary Lou Gualtieri, and a large extended family of cherished cousins.
After graduating high school from Central High in Columbus, Joe served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic working on B-47 bombers. He later built a long and respected career as a master mechanic. With an uncanny ability to diagnose an engine by sound alone, his skills and dedication were unmatched. Even after retiring, he couldn’t sit still—once he recovered from knee surgery, he began delivering parts for NAPA just to stay active.
Joe held many titles - Son, Husband, Father, PaPaw, and Great PaPaw - and he poured his heart into every one of them. His legacy lives on in the generations he helped raise, and his love continues in every shared story and cherished memory.
As we grieve this loss, we take comfort in knowing he’s watching over all of us - especially the little ones. Their presence is a reminder of God’s promise that life, and love, continue.
John (on the phone): “Hey Dad, how ya doin’?”
Joe: “Not worth a crap.”
And so it went.
