John C. Nash Jr. was born on April 9, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, and passed away on January 2, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio.
He was the son of John C. Nash Sr. and Thelma M. Dougherty, who predeceased him. John was also predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Thelma Rose & Norman Knockwafel of Louisville KY, as well as his in-laws, Philip and Martha Orsborn of Troy, Ohio.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, John served his country with honor, before pursuing a degree from Purdue University. He spent his career in the insurance industry, after following his beloved father-in-law’s career.
John was a devoted and dedicated father to his daughters, Jennifer Nash Humphrey (Steve) and Erin Nash (Adam Ramseyer). He is also survived by his nephews: Joseph (Dawn), David, Chris (Christy), as well as many other relations and friends, and his former spouse, Ramona Nash.
John’s main joy in life was sharing practical information, like where to find the cheapest gallon of gas, as well as when the lotto was up over a billion (but “you only need 1 ticket”). He was semi-famous for his interesting wardrobe choices, as well as informing you if the weather was inclement and “you should head home before the roads get too bad”.
A longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception and St. Thomas More Newman Center, John found strength and community through his Catholic faith, which was forged during his childhood at St. Xavier Catholic Prep in Louisville KY. John also believed strongly in public service and volunteerism, and spent many hours volunteering for VOICECorps, Meals on Wheels, Holy Family Soup Kitchen, Clintonville Resource Center, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Cum Christo.
Thank you to Dublin Methodist Hospital for their compassionate care of John in his final weeks. Also, to his dearest friends, Jim Weaver and David Frickey, who assisted John’s daughters in his health concerns, in his final days.
To honor his memory, John would suggest eating some doughnuts, preferably from Der Dutchman, while listening to Willie Nelson, Peter Paul & Mary, Emmylou Harris, Judy Collins, or Dave Brubeck.
Family will hold a Visitation on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026. The Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:30AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E N Broadway Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43214. A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery at 10:00AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
