John David Duey

John D. Duey, 90 years old, passed away on September 25, 2026 at the Duke Hock Family Pavilion. He was the last remaining child of the late Margaret Marie and Ralph Wick Duey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Janice Duey; siblings Rose Wolf, Evelyn Runyon, Barbara Hixson, Ralph Duey, Glenn Duey, and Paul Duey.

John was a proud Army Veteran, serving as a cook and in Unit Vector Control. He was a truck driver by trade, winning the prestigious award of One Million Safe Miles from Murphy Motor Freight, he also was a licensed Auctioneer. After the loss of his beloved wife Janice, John later moved to North Carolina and began working in the warehouse of JC Electric, Inc. until retiring at the ripe age of 76.

John was proud of his children and was always present and participating in their activities, such as: Driving buses, attending football games, competitions, chaperoning band camp, being a Boy Scout Master, and traveling with a baton corp. He was very giving and would lend a hand to his family, friends, and neighbors. John was always the life of the room, making jokes, telling stories, and looking around to see who was laughing. He enjoyed playing Bingo, Gin Rummy, and Poker with his friends at Golden Horizons.

Left to cherish his Memory are his children; Rebecca Sparks (Keith), John W. Duey (Tricia), and Christine Coates (John) Grandchildren: Mitchell Sparks, Cody Sparks (Kayley), Keifer Sparks, Emily Duey, Avery Duey, Allison Duey, Rachel Coates, and Alexander Coates (Jadah). Great Grandchildren: Annabelle, Elianna, and Meadow. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Special thank you to Millennium Durham Internal Medicine, Golden Horizons Adult Daycare, Roxboro Assisted Living, Duke Hospice, and the Duke Hock Family Pavilion for all the care, love, and support during his final years and days.

In lieu of flowers the family request that you donate to one of his favorite charities: The Wounded Warrior Project, Saint Judes, or the Durham Rescue Mission.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM, at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026. A Graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM, at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.
