John "Johnny" Robert Brigham of Upper Arlington, Ohio and formerly Galena, at the age of 84 yrs. old, went home to be with the Lord on Tues, Sept. 30, 2025. He died suddenly while having his morning cigarette and enjoying a cup of coffee in his happy place - sitting at his garage desk and probably getting ready to play some Tetris.
He was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn. and was a 1959 graduate of Whitehaven High School. Growing up, he loved baseball, popular tunes of the day, and cars. He went into the United States Army and was a veteran. He began his career in the newspaper business by working at The Memphis Commercial Appeal and then went on to work at and retire from The Columbus Dispatch in Columbus, Ohio. His love of newspapers was sparked when he became a paperboy at the age of 12. He was blessed to work in an industry he loved.
John was a real family man and loved all his children's friends too. He was interested in everyone's life and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed woodworking and built a lot of furniture that his family still have in their homes today. He loved to garden and took pride in his tomato plants. He was talented with electronics and never turned down a good barbeque dinner. After retirement, he started his own handyman business and worked at that until he was 80 yrs. old.
He leaves behind his wife Linda Brigham; daughters Nancy Brigham - Morton (John) of Mississauga, Canada, Lisi Brigham of Columbus, Oh, Katie Brigham of Columbus, Oh, Molly Brigham (Brandon) of Lakewood, Oh, and Sarah Michels (Scott) of Leavenworth, Wa; sons Dave Brigham (Paula) of Spokane, Wa, and Bob Brigham of Columbus, Oh; sister Beverly Lampkin of Clermont, Fl; ex-wife Lynda Brigham; grand-children Melanie Brigham, Hallie Brigham, Jack Brigham, Lillie Brigham, Luella Michels, Esme Michels, Sherwin Michels, and Hale Stevens; longtime friend Terry DeVassie, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father Robert Lawrence Brigham, mother Marietta Bramblett Brigham, and sisters Ann Brigham, Jean Greer, and Laura Zuber.
