John Binns

John Douglas Binns, 77, of Worthington, Ohio peacefully passed away on January 23, 2026 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Dublin, Ohio.

Born on December 5, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, John was the son of Millard and Jean Binns. After graduation from London High School in1966, he attained an electrical engineering degree from The Ohio State University. His career as an electrical engineer spanned more than 40 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation. During that time, he earned a master’s in business. As an avid steam locomotive enthusiast, he also earned his Chief Steam Engineer License. John also owned and operated the Binns Family Farm as a hobby that he enjoyed for many years.

John is survived by his son Carl Binns and granddaughter Taylor Elaine Woung of Potomac, MD. Brothers Bob (Mary) Binns (London), Rick (Janice) Binns (Hilliard) and sister Karen Binns. Sister-in-law, Vicki (David) Binns (London), brother-in-law, David Straub (Cleveland), close friend Dave Garrabrant (Circleville) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Ellen Binns and brother David (Vicki) Binns and daughter-in-law Simone Woung.
