James “Jimmy” Douglas Ahlstrom passed away unexpectedly on January 20th, 2026 at the age of 71. Known to many as “Jimbo,” he had a playful personality full of energy, charisma, and authenticity. His happy-go-lucky attitude was contagious. He knew how to bring any party to life and leaves his family and friends with many memories and stories to tell.
Jimmy was born in Painesville, Ohio on August 15th, 1954 to James Everett and Hylda Alberta (Taylor) Ahlstrom. He graduated from Whetstone High School in 1972. He then joined the Air Force as an aircraft armament systems mechanic and weapons maintenance technician. He received the Air and Space Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Later in life, he became a fork lift operator until his retirement in July of 2025.
He was a hardcore fan of the Las Vegas Raiders, Michigan Wolverines, KISS, and Alice Cooper. Jimmy’s favorite day of the week was Sunday Funday when he would watch NFL with his many friends at Sports on Tap. In his spare time, he liked anything Rock ‘n’ Roll—concerts, playing his electric guitar, and telling people, “If it’s too loud, you’re too old!”
Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother, Hylda Ahlstrom. He is survived by his father James Ahlstrom, siblings Thomas (Bonita) Ahlstrom and Megan (Dave) McDarmont, 3 children including Mandy (Casey) Ahlstrom, 6 grandkids including Mason Campbell, longtime friend Richard Wolfe, and many other family members and friends.
