Jeffrey Steven Burleson, known to just about everyone as Burl, passed away on October 21, 2026, in his hometown of Hilliard, Ohio. He was born on January 3, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio.
Burl was the kind of guy who made things easier for the people around him. He led with kindness, had a patience that never seemed to run out, and a sense of humor that could lighten any room. Once you were his friend or his family, you had his loyalty for good, no questions asked.
He spent over 20 years working for the Franklin County Municipal Clerk of Courts, and in his later years he worked alongside his cousins Mark and Scott Burleson at their small business, something he genuinely enjoyed.
Burl knew how to fill his time with the things he loved. He spent countless hours detailing cars with his best friend Tom Daniels, and he had a deep passion for motorcycles and classic cars. He was a devoted Ohio State fan and he could listen to Joe Walsh all day long. He and his wife Therese loved their trips to the Florida Gulf Coast, and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by family, including swimming with his granddaughter Ginny.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Laura Burleson, as well as younger brother Joel Burleson.
After 46 years of marriage, he leaves behind his wife, Therese Burleson, who was by his side through everything. He is also survived by his daughter Ashley (Matt) Dasta of Worthington, Ohio; son Zachary (Devin) Burleson of Marysville Ohio, and grandchildren Jack, Vincent and Anna Dasta, and Genevieve Burleson. Not to mention, the many friends and family who were blessed to have Burl in their lives.
Burl lived fully, loved deeply, and left a mark on everyone he met. His kindness and his laugh will be missed more than words can say.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Otie's Tavern in Hilliard, Ohio, at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 28, 2026, timed perfectly for the Ohio State vs. Michigan game. So, put on your Buckeye gear and be ready to share a story, raise a glass, and cheer on the Buckeyes, just the way Burl would have wanted.
Go Bucks, Burl. We'll take it from here.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Burl's name to K9s for Warriors at https://k9sforwarriors.org
