Jared Alexander Bruce, age 27, was taken from us suddenly, leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His passing was unexpected, and the loss is felt deeply by his family, his beloved fiancée, his many friends, and everyone whose life he has touched.
A magna cum laude graduate of Ohio Christian University, Jared was known for his strength, intellect, and imagination along with his very adventurous, yet quiet spirit. He was strong, athletic, artistic, imaginative, and intelligent, enjoying both the outdoors as well as indoor activities that reflected his artistic nature and love of challenging games of strategy, finding joy in activities that challenged both body and mind. He loved working out, sports, chess, video games, Warhammer 40K, guns and had a passion for motorcycles that reflected his adventurous nature and appreciation for skill and craftsmanship.
Jared played many sports throughout his life, including rugby and football with the Columbus Crusaders, and rugby with The Ohio State University where his determination, teamwork, and competitive spirit were evident both on and off the field. Beyond athletics, he enjoyed the creativity, challenge and camaraderie of his Warhammer 40K game group, spending hours painting artistic figurines and sharing strategy, laughter, and friendship.
He loved his fiancée deeply and found great joy in many interests they shared including working out, video games, motorcycles, travel adventures, and the laughter and good conversations they shared. A true free spirit, Jared was adventurous, silly, and quick with a dry sense of humor just like his dad. He had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him, whether through shared adventures, quiet conversations, or moments of unexpected humor.
Most importantly, Jared had placed his trust in Christ as his personal savior as a young boy and enjoyed listening to recorded sermons, listening to and reading books about God including and especially fictional books, such as the Chronicles of Narnia. At 21, he was the first to reach out to a young man at camp, who is now married to his niece, to tell him about God and His plan of salvation. Just like many of us, Jared struggled with doubt and questions at times. Those who loved him find comfort in knowing that God is faithful to complete the good work that he has started in any true believer (Philippians 1:6), and nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39). As one’s eternal destiny is not a trifling matter, we should each examine ourselves to see if we are “in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5). Jared will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents: Thomas and Cynthia Dray, and Maternal Grandparents: Elwood and Ruth Sluss.
Jared is survived by his loving Parents: Debra Bruce and Gerald Bruce, his Fiancée: Hannah Pierre, Siblings: Kelly Gunther (Spouse, Travis Gunther, Children Robert Gunther and Ashley Whitesed and spouse Bradley Whitesed), Jennifer Frazier (Spouse Joseph Frazier, Children Kaylie Cordial and spouse Dillon Cordial), Micah Frazier and Elise Frazier), Michael Cooper, and Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 11am-12pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 4701 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH;43232; where a memorial service will follow at 12pm. Food and Fellowship will follow at 1pm.
