Jan Hall

d. June 18, 2022

Jan Hall passed away in her sleep during the early morning hours of June 18, 2022 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.  Jan was born in Alexandria Virginia on July 29, 1954 to Embrey “Jim” and Jane Rowan Simpson who both proceeded her in death.  She will be missed by all that knew her.  Lover of shopping, Broadway plays, 60’s music, and all things Buckeye Football, Jan had a way of adopting all of her children’s friends and their future families as her own.  She was an excellent listener, an avid reader, a lover of animals, and a friend to every stranger who wished to have a conversation.  She is survived by her husband Robert, daughters Lindsay and Kelsey (Alireza “Ali” Shirvani-Aman), grandchildren Zara Jane Shirvani and Baby Shirvani (yet to be born/named), brother Tom (Cheryl) Simpson, as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, unofficially adopted children, her dog Brody, several granddogs, and a grandcat. In her final years, nothing provided Jan greater joy than spoiling and spending time with her granddaughter, Zara.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to a bench that they would like to donate in Jan’s honor to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. A long-time member and frequent visitor, the zoo was an important institution in her life. If interested in contributing to the bench memorial, please reach out to Robert, Lindsay, or Kelsey. Alternatively, donations directly to the zoo in her name are also greatly appreciated.  Friends and Family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours at Tidd Funeral Home in Hilliard on Tuesday, July 5 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm and a memorial service on Wednesday, July 6 at 11:00 am in Dublin Baptist Church.
