On Saturday night, December 20, 2025, James Christopher “Jim” Faehnle went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he loved with all of his heart. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 14, 1949, Jim was the second-oldest child of Carl Joseph and Mary Ann (Hinterschied) Faehnle. He graduated from Bishop Watterson High School and went on to earn a degree in Finance and Marketing at The Ohio State University. In 1979, Jim married the love of his life, Ruthie Hollaway, in Waldo, Ohio. They were married 46 years and had two children, Ryan James and Heather Marie.
Jim had an extensive career at the Credit Bureau of Columbus and managed the West Virginia Credit Bureau for 10 years before returning to the Columbus Bureau until retirement. Jim was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, enjoying both their football and basketball games. His own athletic endeavors included years on a bowling league with his brother, golf, racquetball, basketball, and time at the gym.
More importantly, Jim was a devoted member of Dublin Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught high school Sunday School classes, and taught finance classes. Jim loved the Lord more than anyone or anything, and he loved his family deeply. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
Jim’s heart was in serving others. He volunteered weekly for 7 years tutoring inner-city children at the Stowe Center. When anyone was in need, Jim gave generously of his time, finances, or possessions.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Heather. He is survived by his wife, Ruthie, son, Ryan, two grandchildren Olivia Marie and Tyson James Faehnle, brother Carl J. (Judy) Faehnle, sisters Mary Lou (Ron) Dury and Susan (Greg) Good, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Dublin Baptist Church, 7195 Coffman Road, Dublin, Ohio, 43017, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with Pastor J.D. Davis officiating. Friends may call at 11 a.m. with the Celebration of Life to follow at noon. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dublin Baptist Church or the Stowe Mission of Central Ohio, 888 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43206.
