James "Bill" Ramey

James William “Bill” Ramey, 67, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on September 10, 2026.

Born on February 16, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Carson and Susie (King) Ramey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deb Ramey; daughter, Kristina Ramey; and brother-in-law, Robert Carpenter.

Bill lived a life full of love and purpose. He worked in management at Mill’s Pride before spending many years at Boehringer Ingelheim and Hikma Pharmaceuticals. He retired in 2025.

Beyond his work, Bill’s greatest passion was his family. While raising his nine children, there was rarely a time when the house didn’t have a handful of extra friends, kids, and teenagers hanging around—watching a game, playing cards, or chowing down on party food. His home was always a place where people felt welcome.

Bill was known for giving head kisses and having special signals with his grandchildren. He was a generous man who was always willing to give his last dollar to someone in need. He was also known for his wisdom. Bill was someone people turned to for advice, knowing that he wouldn’t simply tell you what you wanted to hear, but what you needed to hear.

Over the years, Bill enjoyed fishing with Hillbilly and, later, hearing stories about what everyone else was catching out of the family pond. Every family reunion was a highlight of his year, and we will always remember the joy that family yard games brought him.

Bill is survived by his children, James (Lindsay) Ramey, Angela Ramey (Jeff Carney), Daniel (Tammy) Ramey, Scott (Angaber) Weaver, Jennifer (Don) Taylor, Tawnya Ramey (Brian Horne), Christy Weaver (John Barker), and Carrie (Jock) Pinkerman; and his grandchildren, Carson (Emily) and Isabella Ramey, Tyler Ramey, Dylan and Ashley Williams, Kasidy (Kevin) Davis and Bryce Ramey, Angel, Trey, Alissa, and Chase Milstead, Brenna Weaver, Chuck Morris, Serenity and Makaylynn Taylor, Kayla Hood, Ryan, Caden and Jaden Ramey, Ashton, Austin, and Alexis Barker, Kilee (Joshua) Cleland, and Gabe Pinkerman; along with many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill had a special relationship with his siblings and their families: Linda (John) Montgomery, Brenda Carpenter, Steve Ramey, and Luci (Jerry) Duffer. A Celebration of Life will be held at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, Cedar Lodge, from 2:00–7:00 p.m. on October 1, 2026.
