Jacob Patrick Stratton

August 7, 1998 — April 3, 2023

Hilliard, Ohio

On April 3, 2023, Jacob (Jake) Patrick Stratton was taken from us, but his memories will never be lost upon his immediate and extended school, work and music family. Immediate family members include his mother Amy Stratton, father Patrick Stratton (deceased,) and fiancé Samantha Forester. He is further survived by his grandfather Robert Hockenberger, Jr., grandmother Carol Hockenberger (deceased), Uncle Doug and Aunt Cherie Hockenberger, cousins Aaron, Gabrielle Hockenberger and Cecelia Hockenberger, great aunt and uncle Carol and James Hockenberger. Additional family include Grandmother Jonda Stratton (deceased,) Uncle Dann Grossman, and stepmother Carey Bailey. His memory will live in their hearts as well as the hearts of his band mates, fraternity brothers, co-workers and all who crossed his path.

Jacob graduated in 2017 from Bradley High School where he played for the indoor percussion group and marching band, and regularly participated in concert performances. His love of music extended past his high school career. He loved attending national touring music groups, as well as local musicians such as Brave Face, performances. He would often sing along with the lead singer with nearly every song. He had an intuitive ear for music and often considered a career in the music industry.

He began his academic work at the Bowling Green State University where he met Samantha Forester. Jacob pledged and was accepted to Tau Kappa Epsilon. His interest in computers and programing later led him to enroll in the University of Cincinnati’s online IT classes.

Jacob had an increasing appreciation of good food and drink. He had begun to cook at home, making his mother and fiancé the best scrambled eggs ever. When traveling, he sought out unconventional eateries--even sushi bars—for the experience. He truly enjoyed a day at Clam Lake and Lake Michigan with a cold drink in one hand and a tasty snack in the other. Nothing pleased him more than a weekend full of UC Bearcats on a Saturday, Steelers football on a Sunday, maybe a quick visit to Cleveland, and listening to comedic podcasts. Jacob was a man of conviction. He was a kind and generous soul leaving an impression with everyone he met. He wanted nothing more than for each of us to do exactly what makes us happy.

The family will welcome friends FRIDAY, April 14, 2023, from 6-8 PM, and  SATURDAY, April 15, 2023, from 3-5 PM, at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 NORWICH STREET, HILLIARD, OH, 43026.
