Herbert A. Beidel Sr. P.E., age 88, of Columbus, passed away Monday July 5, 2021. Born September 4, 1932 in Columbus, OH. He lived most of his life in Columbus, OH and 5 years in Colmar, France. Graduate of West High School Class of 1950. He was a member of the United States Air Force branch 1949-56 (Staff Sergeant w/166th Fighter Bomber Squadron) and a Graduate of The Ohio State University with a Mechanical Engineering Degree class of 1960. He worked for Timken Rolling Bearing and retired at age 50 after working there for 32 years as the Tool & Die Department Manager. Member of Auxiliary Franklin County Chapter of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, the Columbus Sail and Power Squadron, Columbus Ski Club, Underwater Diving Club, and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Mansfield Ski Patrol. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, traveling all over Europe, snow skiing all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe, especially the Swiss Alps; fishing and boating on Lake Erie; collecting beer steins in Germany; riding motorcycles; tennis, bike riding. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mabel Beidel. Survived by his son, Herbert (Stephanie) A. Beidel Jr. “Tiger”; 2 step-grandchildren, Savannah and Caleb.
