Harold Hamm

d. January 25, 2022

Harold Maxwell Hamm, age 96, of Hilliard, Ohio took his final step into heaven on January 25, 2022.

Harold was born in Nicholas county Kentucky - son of Ann Myrtle and Ora John Hamm. He loved growing up in Maysville - spending time with his family and friends, caring for the animals on uncle John’s farm, sledding down the hilly roads in downtown, and enjoying his early days as a newspaper man (with his own newspaper delivery route).

Harold met (on a blind date) and married the love of his life, Ruth, from Portsmouth, Ohio. The couple moved to Columbus and settled in Hilliard in the early 1950’s, where they raised their four dear children: Greg, Gary, Bret and Amy.

Harold was a devoted and loving father and husband. He was incredibly proud of his family and was a loving father-in-law to his sons wives (Brenda, Mary and Sherry), grandpa to his 8 grandchildren and great grandpa (or better known as papa stache) to his 9 great grandchildren. Harold loved to play golf, tap his toe to big band music and treat the grandkids to surprise gold coins. He loved getting to spend special time on the golf course with his kids and grandkids sharing stories about life in the army, as a paint contractor, or his work as a machinist at Jaeger Machine Company or just telling a good dad joke.

Harold never knew a stranger. His smile and positivity was contagious. And his memory was a full encyclopedia about his personal life, history, directions/locations and general random details.

Harold lived a modest and simple life but was rich beyond measure with a genuine love and kindness for others. He was handsome, kind, funny and extra lovable to all who crossed his path in life.

Family and friends will gather at the Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 for a Visitation from 10am - 11am immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Interment will follow in Alton Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
