Gervasio (Jerry) Morales, 97, of Hilliard Ohio, passed away April 3, 2024, peacefully at his home surrounded by family.  Jerry was born on August 28, 1926, in the Alianza neighborhood of Salinas, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Petra and Antonio Morales.  He lived through the great depression years with his siblings (Luis, Gabriel, Jenny, and Carmen). Jerry worked many jobs helping the family, then served in the US Army during World War II. After the war, he went on to become a government contractor as an electrician & radio technician. He later moved to New York, took classes to become a cloth tailor and began working for the Brillo company as a manufacturing supervisor in Brooklyn. There he married his wife, Carmen Rodriguez on October 6th, 1962.

Jerry accepted a relocation offer as production manager for the new Brillo / Purex facility in Ohio in 1969. He worked for Brillo/Purex Corp for over 37 years until his retirement. Jerry and Carmen remained in Hilliard.  They were active members of the Hilliard Presbyterian Church.  Jerry served as a deacon of the church, was a member of the Hilliard Community & Senior Center and was also a local real estate agent after retirement. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to Puerto Rico, US and overseas tourist destinations, coaching little league sports, assisting the local boy scout troops, camping, fishing, and dancing. His hobbies also included playing the guitar, baking, playing pool, gardening, wood working, house projects, and working on cars.  He was considered a "jack of all trades."

Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings (Luis, Gabriel, Jenny, and Carmen). Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Carmen. He is also survived by his children: Miriam, Gervasio Jr. (Carmen), Diana, Jimmy, Jeffrey (Leslie), and Edgar (Amber). Jerry’s grandchildren includes: Roberto (Alexandra), Laressa (Jose), Calimar, Ali (Eric), Miriam (William), Oscar (Myrka) Joan (Keishla), Lia, Ian, Haley (Canaan), Bailey (Thomas), & Ethan (Alivia), and  great grandchildren: (Adianez, Roberto, Roberto Allan, Miguel, Lara, Karlo, Lola, Sofia, Sasha, Lucas, Gabriela, Mia, Paola, Nicolas, Adian, Stella, and Jensyn, and is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Jerry was above all, a wonderful husband, father, and friend who loved his family very much and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A special thank you goes to the Gentiva Hospice team for the wonderful care and compassion expressed to Jerry and his family.

The family will receive friends for a funeral service for Jerry on Sunday, April 7 at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, OH.  Visitation will be from 1-3 pm.  A funeral service with Army honors will follow at 3:00 pm,  the Rev. Chaplain Dennis Barnhart presiding.
