Gary D. Pinnix

Gary D. Pinnix, age 77, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Sunday, January 30, 2022.  Born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Oliver and Phyllis Pinnix, Gary was a graduate of Columbus Linden-McKinley High School, Class of 1962.  He graduated from the Columbus Police Academy and from October, 1967-January, 2001 served as a Columbus Police Officer.  He retired from Precinct #14.

In retirement he enjoyed going to “his office,” a local McDonald’s, to chat up the employees, drink coffee and read the Dispatch.  He also enjoyed spending time at the library and the park reading and doing crossword puzzles.  One of his passions was cruising his community looking for safety issues he could report to be fixed, especially burned out street and parking lot lights.  His other passion, providing people and businesses with new American flags to replace those frayed and tattered.  He was a people person and liked to talk, advise and debate.  He loved family gatherings and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his son Keith Pinnix who passed in 2018.  He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Tony Roberts, grandchildren Jess and Ash Roberts, sister Cheryl (Jerry) Margeson, brother John (Kim) Pinnix, nieces and nephews Lisa, Todd, Joel and Janine, and many friends.

Family will receive friends from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2022 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722.  Funeral Services will be held 12:30p.m. WEDNESDAY at CHAPEL B of UNION CEMETERY, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43202.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, 700 Children’s Drive, Columbus, OH 43205 or on-line www.nationwidechildrens.org.
