G. Kent Redett

January 19, 1947 — November 22, 2025

G. Kent Redett, 78, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was born on January 19, 1947, in Salem, Ohio, and moved with his family to Amlin, Ohio, in April 1954. Kent graduated from Hilliard High School in 1965, where he was a proud three-sport varsity athlete, competing in football, basketball, and baseball. His athleticism, teamwork, and drive were qualities that carried into every chapter of his life. After high school, Kent honorably served in the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the destroyer USS Charles P. Cecil, where he served as a Chief Radarman. His service in the Mediterranean theater during the Vietnam War reflected his deep sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism. Following his service in the Navy, Kent attended The Ohio State University, where he earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology. His education deepened his lifelong commitment to agriculture and rural communities. Kent went on to build a long and meaningful career with the Farm Credit Association, supporting farmers across six states—Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Idaho, Colorado, and North Carolina. He took great pride in helping agricultural communities succeed and was respected by colleagues and clients alike. Kent enjoyed a full and active life. He loved cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, following all sports, and golfing with his lifelong friends—including their annual Hilton Head golf trip. He was an avid reader, a devoted traveler, and cherished time spent with his family, especially during large extended-family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Redett, and by his infant twin brother. He is survived by his sisters Kim Redett, Robin (Kurt) Blank, and Gail (Greg) Thompson; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Kent’s honor may be made to the educational or veterans’ charity of your choice.
