Fred McGath , age 89, passed away on June 23, 2012 at Sterling Place where he resided for the past 9 months under the care of Loving Care Hospice. He was born July 25, 1922 to Fred and Jessie McGath of Mt. Sterling.
Fred was the last member of his family. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Fred retired from Westinghouse after 30 years of service. Fred enjoyed fishing and restoring antique furniture.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, his wife Donna and his infant daughter.
He is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Sherry) Slagle, her husband Ken of Yellow Springs, Ohio; son Steve McGath and his wife Judy of Casa Grande, AZ.; grandchildren Brian Slagle & Theresa of Battlefield, Missouri, Dawn Slagle of Urbana, Ohio, Kathy Necaise of Peerkinston, Mississippi; great-grandchildren Scott, Kimberly and Cheyenne. Very special friend Bill Gill.

In keeping with Fred’s wishes, cremation was requested. A graveside Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dennison Chapel Cemetery. Pastor Jim Fannin will officiate, A military service will be performed by the Circleville Amvets Post #2256.
