Eugenia Irena Carmody, née Grudzińska, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully from this world on August 1, 2021 at the age of 87 at her home in Hilliard, Ohio. Eugenia was born on April 21, 1934 to Tomasz and Barbara (née Pomichowska) Grudziński in Kolno, Poland, and lived in the town of Pisz in Poland’s beautiful Masuria lake district. After a short career in the civil service, she came to the United States in 1968, where she married Alfred Joseph Carmody of Wyandotte, Michigan. A devout parishioner at Our Lady of the Scapular, she resided in Wyandotte for nearly five decades raising their four children. Eugenia was well-noted in the community for her gardening, her cooking, and her daily walks about the city with her sister Jadzia. Late in her life, she moved to Ohio to remain close to the loving care of her family. Eugenia was preceded to Heaven by Alfred, her beloved husband of 30 years; her parents Tomasz and Barbara; and her siblings Henryk, Marian (Kazimiera), Edmund (Wacława), and Jadwiga (Joseph) Wolak. Eugenia is survived by her brother, Wacław (Wiesia), of Kostrzyn, Poland; her children Monica (Mark) Beadles, of Hilliard, Ohio, Susanna (Bill) Dillenberger, of Dublin, Ohio, Barbara Carmody of Garden City, Michigan, and Christopher (Karen) Carmody of Aguada, Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews; and 10 grandchildren, who were ever the lights of her life. Eugenia will be laid to rest alongside Alfred at Michigan Memorial Park in New Boston, Michigan. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be directed to Family Missions Company at https://www.familymissionscompany.com/project/chris-and-karen-carmody/. The Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722, assisted the family.
