Esther Miller

Esther Belle (Sheriff) Miller (85) passed away in Hilliard, OH on April 26, 2025. She was born in Bethel, Ohio on April 11, 1940, to John Howard and Alma (Custer) Sheriff.

Esther received her nursing degree from Hocking Technical College and worked as a traveling nurse in the Columbus, Ohio area. After settling in Washington State later in life, she began a career as a real estate agent.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her spouse Delbert Delos Miller; and her stepchildren Betty Marlene (Martinez) and Bonita “Bonnie” Jean (Garcia). Esther is survived by her children Linda (Osborne) Henry, Carla (Osborne) Ramsey, Jane (Osborne) Miller, and James John Osborne; stepchildren Kenneth “Kenny” Miller and Beverly (Angeles) Miller; her sister Ruth Ellen (Sieber) along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Esther had a love for traveling and seeing new sights. Although born in Bethel, Ohio along the Ohio River, she lived in Scotland, Hawaii, Washington State, and Georgia. She traveled to Ireland, Europe, Canada and throughout the United States including Alaska. She also loved to paint and was teaching her Great Grandson painting techniques. At home, her joy was gardening, cultivating vegetables and flowers and enjoying the fruits of her labor as she loved to cook. Before moving back to Ohio, Esther was a member of the Examples Choir in Lawrenceville, GA. She loved to sing for the Lord and in 2012, Esther traveled to Tennessee with the Examples Choir. The Choir competed in the Smoky Mountain Jubilee where they won first place. She was also a member of a trio, 1969-1970, that sang at a local church in Bainbridge, Ohio. Esther loved the Lord with all her heart and was not afraid to share His message with anyone she met. He spared her life on more than one occasion. She told everyone about His love, compassion and forgiveness.

The family will receive friends at New Life Church, 7766 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, OH on Saturday, May 31st. Visitation from 11:00 - 12:00 pm, a memorial service at 12:00 pm and lunch at the church immediately following the service. Esther’s interment will take place at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH May 30th at 1:00pm.
