Eleanor Martin

Eleanor S. Martin, age 81 of Hilliard, Ohio passed peacefully on March 14, 2023 at home. Born January 4, 1942 to Mary Kathryn Hawse Mitchell and Howard Perry Mitchell. Eleanor “Sharon” was a proud graduate of South High School in Columbus, Ohio. Eleanor retired from Simon And Schuster Publishing and also worked at Big Bear Supermarket and Direct Line Answering Services. 

Eleanor was an avid sewist all her life. She sewed everything from doll clothes to prom dresses. Most recently she found great joy in the Seams that Bind quilt group in Hilliard, Ohio. Her last quilt was finished in January of 2023. Eleanor also treasured her Tuesday Bible Study Group. Music was a big part of Eleanor’s life, if she was dancing, she was Happy.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her Husband of 45 years Walter Martin, her parents, her stepfather Orland “Jack “Elliott and her sister Nancy Sark. 

Survived by children Julia Walkowicz, Kathryn Walkowicz, Henry Walkowicz (Karen) and Kevin Walkowicz(Anne-Marie). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren Kearstin McGinnis (Steven), Elliott Watts (Maria), Maris Watts, Richard Roush and Isabelle Walkowicz. One great grand-daughter Avrin McGinnis and a great grandson due in July 2023 . Sister Judy Newland, brothers Keith Clark and John Elliott. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 29th, 2023 beginning at 11am at Darby Creek Community Church located at 1145 Amity Rd Galloway, Ohio 43119, Pastor Greg Burlile officiating.
