Elaine Kay Hess

Elaine Kay Hess, 61, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed into rest in the loving arms of her Savior on September 3, 2026. Elaine was born in West Virginia to the late Earl W. Hess and Mary D. Hess. Elaine graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Clendenin, WV in 1983 and then attended Concord College in Athens, WV where she joined Delta Zeta Sorority. She was employed by Harper Engraving and Printing Company in Columbus, OH beginning in 1987 as a typesetter and remained in their employment for most of her working life.

During Elaine’s early years, she attended First Baptist Church in Clendenin, WV with her family. She was baptized there in 1976. Elaine became a member of Mountview Christian Church in Upper Arlington, OH in 2007 and during the years following she served as Church Hostess for several years. Also, while at Mountview, in 2012 she became involved with Lower Lights Ministries (LLM) in Franklinton, OH. At that time, she began serving with the Bright Lights Kids, the LLM youth mentoring program. She was instrumental in arranging meals and snacks, helping with Summer Day Camp and end of school year celebrations. She brought a spirit of joy, generosity, and genuine care to every opportunity to serve. Elaine also spent several years supporting the women of Lower Lights Recovery, providing transportation for errands. Elaine showed up, she cared, and she loved people well.

Elaine is survived by her sister Terry Lambert (Paul) of Hilliard, OH, brother Blaine (Radonna) Hess of Williamstown, WV, nieces Elizabeth (Matthew) Schultz of Fremont, OH, Catherine Lambert of Grandview Heights, OH, Ashton (Camaron) Lancaster of St. Marys, WV, Katelyn (Jordan) Barr, of Tallahassee, FL, a great niece and nephew, aunt Patsy Hess of South Charleston, WV, and numerous cousins.

Celebrations of Life for Elaine will be held at MountviewChristian Church, 2140 Fishinger Road, Columbus, OH on Friday, October 9, receiving friends beginning at 4:30 p.m., with a service at 6:00 p.m. and on Monday, October 12, at Clendenin First Baptist Church, Virginia Avenue, Clendenin, WV, receiving friends beginning at noon with a service at 1:00 p.m. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Koontz Cemetery in Clendenin, WV.
