Edward Thomas Rothacker went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2022. Edward was born to Glenn and Anne Rothacker on November 19, 1951 in Cleveland Ohio. He graduated from West Tech High School, Class of 1970 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy becoming a Fire Control Technician, 3rd Class Petty Officer and earning the National Defense Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Award. Aboard ship he played organ in a 7-piece rock band named “Damn Right.” The band played around the world in many U.S.O.’s and during refueling operations to entertain the troops. After his service in the Navy, music continued to be a major part of his life. In 1975, Ed surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and met his wife, Cynthia Balliett, in church where he served on the worship team. They were married on August 19, 1978, and had two children, Nathan and Julie. Ed provided for his family by finding a successful career in Data Communication Sales.
In retirement, Ed wrote an autobiography about his faith journey which became published and founded the charity “Piano 4 Patriots” which provided instruments and free music lessons to families of active- duty military.
Edward is survived by his wife Cynthia Balliett Rothacker, his son Nathan Rothacker (Amber) and his daughter Julie Bogard, four grandchildren Riley, Tristan, Conley and Logan Bogard. He is pre-deceased by siblings Lenore Guthridge, Mark Rothacker, Rita Gonzalez (John), Margaret Rothacker and Joseph Rothacker (Elizabeth). He is survived by brothers Phillip Rothacker and Allen Rothacker (Noeleen).
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Linworth Road Church, located at 5400 Linworth Rd., Columbus OH 43235.
