Edgar "Eddie" Elfrink

Edgar “Eddie” Elfrink of Dublin, Ohio passed peacefully with family at his side on July 17th, 2026 after 95 well-lived years. Eddie was the oldest of eight children and grew up on a dairy farm in Madison County. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (whom he affectionately referred to as his “personal nurse”); son, Bill (Jennifer); grandchildren, Ellie (Brett), Matthew (Katie), Nathan (Taylor), Nicholas (Jazmyne) and Isaac; great-grandson, Colson; and siblings, Patty (Howard) and Sonny (Barb). Eddie was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Nancy; son, Rick; siblings, Pauline, Rudy, Joe, Mary Kathryn and Raymond; and parents, Gerrit and Matilde.

Eddie shared an unwavering bond and a nearly 70-year marriage with his wife, Nancy. They built a life around simple joys and a love for one another. After retirement, Eddie and Nancy embraced adventure. They spent dozens of winters in Florida soaking up sunshine with dear friends and traveled all over the country in their fifth wheel camper. They believed the best way to spend an evening was with happy hour on their back porch, often joined by friends and family.

Eddie lived life with a calm and gentle spirit. He often sported one of his signature “Life is Good” t-shirts and embodied the sentiment as his life motto, rarely being seen without a smile on his face. Eddie was happiest outdoors. He was an accomplished gardener and golfer. He had a special interest in weather with many relying on him for the most accurate forecast. He loved riding his bike (likely setting a record by retiring it only at the age of 90), finding the best peaches and apples all around the state of Ohio, and visiting his cousin Glenn on his sweet corn farm.

In the weeks preceding his death, Eddie enjoyed many birthday celebrations, including a trip to Lake Erie on the day of his 95th birthday for one of his favorite traditions: a lunch of fresh caught perch. Eddie was blessed with many more adventures following Nancy’s passing. His family is incredibly grateful to Lynne and Ed, Glenn, Shelley and Nick, Judy and Todd, Bill and Mary Ann, Mary and Kevin, Karen and Brian, Kathy and Kevin, and Patty and Howard, among many others, for getting him out on the town.

Eddie’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Bristol Senior Living Community. He truly enjoyed living there the past two years because each and every one of them treated him as family.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in London, Ohio on Saturday, August 8th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please share a smile and a kind word as we know this would make Eddie happy. May Eddie’s warm spirit live on in all of us.
