Donald Thompson

Donald (Don) Allen Thompson passed away at the age of 85 on April 21, 2026. He had a life changing stroke in 2020, and lived his last year at Brookdale Muirfield Assisted Living. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff there, as well as to the team at Suncrest Hospice for their compassionate care.

Don was born in Hutchinson, Kansas to M.J. (Jack) and Ruth Thompson. He is survived by his brothers, Van (Ellen) and Lee (Susan), and his sister, Charlotte (Tim), along with many nieces and nephews.

Don was married to Marija Kervina-Thompson for over 35 years.

He leaves behind daughters, Kristin Thompson Obert (John), Kara Thompson McCune (Jeff) and Toni Nicole Kervina. Don was the proud grandfather of Meghan, Mollie, Morgan, Mason and Nolan. He also had 5 amazing great- grandchildren.

After graduating from the University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy in 1963 (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk), Don moved to Ohio, where he continued his education at The Ohio State University (Go Bucks), earning his master’s degree in Science. He went on to build a long and respected career at Chemical Abstracts Service in Columbus, where he worked for 35 years.

Don liked fast cars, fine wine, global cuisine, cooking, photography and Nestle Crunch bars.
