Dolores Antonia Gomez, 88, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Dolores (Dee) will be sadly missed by family and friends as she was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was an exceptional daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. With her close circle of friends JoAnne, Rosemary, Marlene, and Anna Mary (just to name a few), Dolores enjoyed numerous trips traveling to Mexico to practice her Spanish and to New York City to see Broadway shows.
Dolores graduated from Central High School and OSU. She pursued her calling in teaching and retired from Columbus City Schools as a dedicated kindergarten teacher and reading specialist for over thirty years. As a life-long learner, she taught for over two years in Denver, Colorado and audited various classes through her career. She volunteered as a Docent for the Columbus Museum of Art which required continuous training and time. Dolores was also a member of the Women's Association of the Columbus Symphony. As a devout Catholic, Dolores was a resolute parishioner who volunteered her time generously to Holy Family Church in Columbus.
Preceded in death by father Herbert, mother Uda Belle, siblings Phillip, Ramona, and Herbert; sister in-laws Patricia and Barbara; brother in-law William; nieces and nephews Anne, Michael, and Phillip. Survived by nieces and nephews Curtis, John, Mary, James, Patrice, Suzanne, beloved cat Pauley and several great nieces and nephews.
