David E. Yeager, 85, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
David was born September 25, 1940, in Windber, Pennsylvania, to Ellsworth and Cleo (Lawhead) Yeager. At the age of 11, he experienced the heartbreaking loss of his mother, Cleo, to lupus. Following her passing, he was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Charles and Suie Yeager, whose care and support shaped much of his early life. Later, when his father remarried, his stepmother Marian welcomed David into her heart and family. At 17, David became a devoted older brother to his half-sister, Bonnie Yeager.
David treasured his childhood memories with his grandparents, especially the railroads near their home—which inspired a lifelong passion for trains. David began his professional journey in Cleveland, Ohio by dedicating 40 years of his career to PPG Industries, serving with distinction as a Chemist 1st Class. Beyond his professional career, David was committed to his community, serving as an Auxiliary Police Captain for the North Ridgeville Police Department. In 1988, David’s career led him to the PPG Marysville plant, prompting a move to Hilliard, where he would remain a longtime resident.
Beyond his professional life, David was an avid golfer and a regular at the poker and pool tables. A lifelong dog lover, David was a favorite among the neighborhood pups; he was rarely seen without a Milk-Bone tucked in his pocket, ready for his four-legged friends. He took great pride in his cooking and his commitment to his church, where he spent much of his time volunteering, attending Bible study, and keeping a close, watchful eye on the cookie tray.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and Cleo Yeager; his stepmother, Marian Yeager; and his stepdaughter, Laurie Williams (Holny).
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Donna Yeager (Millikan); his daughter Amy Goodrich (Matt); his cherished granddaughter Lilly Goodrich (11); grandchildren Matthew Williams (28) and Molly Williams (21); daughters Denise and Melissa; and many other beloved family members and friends whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a cause David supported with deep commitment.
