David Bishop

David R. Bishop, 77, of Columbus Ohio, passed away on January 24, 2026. David is preceded in death by his parents Joseph H. Bishop Sr., Isabella A. Bishop Glasgow, and siblings Joseph H. Bishop Jr., Donald S. Bishop, and Sally I. Bishop. David is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan E. Bishop, and children Brittni A. Bishop and Nathan D. Bishop.

David graduated from Whetstone High School and enlisted in the United States Army where he served two tours in the Vietnam War. David earned the National Defense Service Metal, Good Conduct Metal, in addition to the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. In 1984, David began his career with Micro Electronics where he managed the construction of Micro Center stores throughout the United States until retirement as Director of Construction.

David participated with the Special Achievement Council as a volunteer counselor for over five years in a twelve-step program. Later in life, David became interested in the martial arts of Taekwondo achieving 2nd Dan Black Belt and competing in AAU championships. He won gold and silver awards during the years 2004 through 2007. David was a lifelong wood working, gardening, outdoor, and cooking enthusiast where he perfected bread baking, especially for the holidays. David also enjoyed weekend motorcycle rides on his Harley Davidson with his wife. Known for his humor and generous heart, David loved making others laugh and cherished his family and friends above all else.

Family will receive friends from 4pm-5pm Friday, January 30, 2026 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where a funeral service will follow at 5pm. Interment Union Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
