Danny Ray Honaker, 65, of Plain City, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, surrounded by his daughters, after a long and courageous fight with cancer, fighting with strength, grit, and that signature stubbornness until his very last breath. Born on March 5, 1960 in Lebanon, VA, to the late Bennie and Anna Honaker, Danny grew up in Plain City, OH and graduated from Jonathan Alder High School in 1978. He also attended Tolles Technical Institution, where he majored in Auto Mechanics, a passion that carried with him throughout his life.
Danny was known for his quick wit, big heart, and the kind of humor that could light up any room. He was a dedicated and hardworking man, spending 31 years at Honda of America, where he started in 1984 and proudly retired from the Stamping Department on March 6, 2015. Before his time at Honda, Danny was an expert carpenter and took great pride in building churches in Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, New York, Ohio and Utah, work that reflected his craftsmanship and quiet strength.
A true car enthusiast, Danny had a lifelong passion for classic cars, especially his cherished 1968 Roadrunner. Whether he was under the hood of a car, telling stories that made everyone laugh, or lending a helping hand, Danny’s presence left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He took great pride in keeping his car and his home spotless everything he touched showed the same care and attention he gave to those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Tanya Rodenberger of Bellefontaine, Laura Honaker of Marysville, and Alex (Lane) Calland of West Liberty, whom he loved dearly and was endlessly proud of; as well as Austin Honaker of Marysville, whom he proudly raised and loved as his own son. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Hayden, Adalynn, Allyson, Peyton, Paislee, Graeson and Cayson; his brothers, Randy (Chris) Honaker and Mike (Linda) Honaker, both of Plain City; several nieces and nephews and his best friend of 32 years, Michael Byrd “Byrd” and his wife, LuAnn, who were both very special to him.
A special thank-you is extended to his daughter Laura and his brother Randy, whose around-the-clock care allowed Danny to remain at home and spend his final days surrounded by comfort, dignity, and the people he loved most.
Danny will be remembered as a loving father, proud grandpa, devoted brother, and loyal friend. He could do all things and did them with laughter, love, and a heart of gold. He will be missed beyond measure.
