Daniel Mertens

Daniel Edward Mertens, age 83, of Galloway, passed away October 16, 2022. Member of St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church. US Air Force Veteran serving in Korea and retired with 30 years of service, he worked at Wright Pat Air Force Base following his career in the Air Force. Dan was an avid reader and had a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Preceded in death by parents Florence and Clifton Mertens, sisters Ann Micochero, Karen Wescott and Janet Mertens. Survived by loving wife Virginia, children Julie Wittenberg, Sherry Mertens, Kevin Mertens, David Wood, Liz Florentino and Audrey Wood-Shaffer, brother Alan (Maggie) Mertens, sisters Molly Mertens, Sally Monsey and Christine (Pete) Mullen, many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service. Entombment Dayton National Cemetery.
