Cynthia A. Konzen

Cynthia Anne Konzen, age 79, a native of Mansfield, Ohio and formerly of Hilliard, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2026. She was born in Mansfield, on June 5, 1946. Cynthia graduated from The Ohio State University attaining both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education. She taught in Hilliard City Schools from 1972-2000. During that time, she was active in the Ohio Music Education Association and served in several offices, as well as being a judge for Solo and Ensemble competitions. Cynthia served as president of the Ohio String Teacher Association in 1989. She was honored as “Teacher of the Year” in Hilliard, 1984 and “Ohio String Teacher of the Year” in 1996. Cynthia was also selected for the Columbus “Music Educator 2000 Award, Secondary Level” from The Columbus Symphony. During her orchestral career she played with several local symphonies including Central Ohio Symphony, Capital University Orchestra, and Westerville Civic Orchestra. She was a member of Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra from 2002-2010 (as well as librarian part of that time.) She was proud to be a part of Grace Polaris Church Orchestra where she was also a member.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband James Konzen, her parents Marveline and Howard Meyer, and her sisters Nancy Hardy and Susan Ross.

She is survived by her nephews Michael (Becky) Hardy, Todd (Connie) Hardy, Patrick Ross, James Konzen’s children Shelly Conley, Jeffrey Konzen, and Kimberly Steele, and many friends.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held SATURDAY, MAY 9, 2026 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722. The visitation will start at 11:00a.m. and end at 1:00p.m. with the Funeral Service beginning immediately afterwards at 1:00p.m. SATURDAY. Cynthia will be laid to rest on MONDAY, MAY 11, 2026 at 11:00a.m. at MANSFIELD MEMORIAL PARK, 2507 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, OH 44906.
