Constance Glaser

January 28, 1933 — November 25, 2025

Constance Ann “Connie” Glaser, age 92, of Granville, Ohio, passed away peacefully in Hospice care at Sharon Brooke on November 25, 2025, after a long and courageous journey with dementia. Born on January 28, 1933, in Huron, South Dakota, Connie was the beloved daughter of Sally and Vinton Sawyer and sister to Marylin Rytel.

During her childhood, she lived in South Dakota and Nebraska, surrounded by prairie lands that she deeply loved and cherished. The experiences, spent near her grandparents, provided her with a strong sense of connection to landscape and family heritage. Later, she moved to Fairview Park, Ohio, where she spent her formative years. The environment and community of Fairview Park played a significant role in shaping her personal development, influencing her values and outlook on life.

Connie graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Political Science. She began her professional life as an Administrative Assistant in Operations Research at Case Institute of Technology and later worked as Secretary at Pruitt Law in Anderson, South Carolina. Eventually, Connie dedicated herself fully to raising her four children, embracing her role as a devoted wife and mother.

Connie shared 69 years of love with her husband, Hellmut “Dutch” Glaser, facing life’s joys and di]iculties together. She took great pride in her children and their spouses: Paul and Jean Glaser, Eric Glaser, Karl and Shelagh Glaser, and Karen and Fred Schenk. Connie was also a cherished grandmother to eight granddaughters: Sarah, Emily, Anneliese, Rachel, Olivia, Claire, Margaret, and Caroline.

Her life was characterized by a strong will, patient nature, and joyful spirit. Connie served as a teacher and caretaker to many, teaching Sunday School at Centenary Methodist Church, delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering at the Granville Twig 6 thrift shop, cub scout den mother and tutoring children in need. She found joy in baseball, travel, bridge, and most of all, being surrounded by her family and grandchildren.

Connie was a gifted storyteller, delighting her children and grandchildren with lively accounts from her life—stories that grew more entertaining and sometimes more unbelievable as the years passed. Despite a fear of water, she joined her family on canoeing and rafting adventures in Ohio, the crocodile-infested waters of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and the canals of Amsterdam. Her bravery earned her the first Glaser “Flying Dolphin” Good Water Sport award. Ahead of her time, as the family’s chief sustainability o]icer, she never passed up the opportunity to save a Christmas bow for posterity.

We will miss the matriarch of our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Centenary Methodist Church in Granville later. Private burial at Welsh Hills Cemetery
